CTET photograph and signature at a glance
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test is run by the Central Board of Secondary Education, and its online form asks for two image uploads: a recent photograph and your signature. The table lists the file sizes that have been quoted for recent sessions. The pixel sizes are our own starting values, because the notice normally limits the file size rather than the dimensions.
| Document | File size | Dimensions | What it should show |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 10 to 100 KB | 350 × 450 px | A recent colour photo with your face clearly visible |
| Signature | 3 to 30 KB | 300 × 120 px | Your own signature in dark ink on white paper |
CBSE can change these details from one session to the next, so please read the information bulletin for your session before you upload. If it lists different numbers, open the Customise section and type them in. The check chips and the ZIP button follow whatever you enter.
Which CTET candidates can use this tool
The same two uploads are used by candidates for Paper 1, which covers classes 1 to 5, and Paper 2, which covers classes 6 to 8. Many people appear for both papers with a single application, so you only need one photograph and one signature.
Because the tool works from numbers rather than exam names, it also helps if you are applying for a state teacher eligibility test with similar rules. Just adjust the KB range and the pixel size to match that notice.
Preparing your files from start to finish
- Pick Photo first. Upload a clear portrait from your gallery or take a fresh one in daylight.
- Crop to your face. Keep your head and the tops of your shoulders in the frame and leave a little space above your hair.
- Check the chips. Wait for the size and dimensions chips to turn green.
- Download it. The file is saved as a JPG with the exam name in its title, so you can find it quickly.
- Repeat for the signature. Switch to the Signature tab, upload your sample and crop close around the ink.
- Keep both together. The ZIP button collects every finished file into one download.
Getting the CTET photograph right
A good photograph prevents most problems at the verification stage, where your picture is compared with the one on your admit card and your identity proof. Stand facing a window so soft daylight lights your face evenly, and keep a plain, light wall behind you.
- Look straight ahead. Keep your head level and your expression natural.
- Keep it recent. It should look like you on the day of the exam, not like an old school photo.
- Remove distractions. Skip dark glasses, caps and scarves that hide your face.
- Fix a messy background. The background remover can turn it plain white before you resize.
Making a clean signature image
Sign with a dark blue or black pen on plain white paper, using the signature you normally use on official papers. Lay the sheet flat, photograph it from straight above in good light, then upload it. Crop tightly around the ink so the signature fills most of the frame.
Leave the ink clean-up switch on. It brightens the paper and deepens the ink, which keeps thin strokes readable even when the file has to be very small, as low as a few KB. If strokes look too faint, raise the ink strength slider a little.
Small details that save a second attempt
Applications are usually filled in one sitting and the upload page may not let you replace a file after you submit. Prepare both images first, then open the form. Rename nothing by hand: the downloaded names are already simple and have no spaces.
- Save the files where you can find them again, such as a folder named after the exam.
- Keep a spare copy of the same photograph for the admit card and the certificate stage.
- If the portal refuses a file, change the target KB by a few points and download again.
Common reasons CTET uploads fail
- The file is smaller or larger than the allowed KB range.
- The picture was stretched to fit instead of being cropped.
- The photo is blurry, too dark or taken against a busy background.
- The signature is in capital letters when the notice asks for a normal signature, or is written on lined paper.
- The file is not a JPEG, or the extension was changed by hand.
- The photograph and signature were uploaded in each other’s slots.
Staying private while you prepare files
All processing happens on your device. Your photograph and signature are never sent to our servers, so there is nothing for anyone else to see. When a file is ready you can download it, collect both in a ZIP, or use Share to pass the image and a link to this page to another phone. Remove shared copies from chats afterwards, since these are personal documents.
