NEET UG uploads at a glance
NEET UG applications are handled by the National Testing Agency, and the online form collects more images than most exams: a passport-size photograph, a postcard-size photograph, your signature and an impression of your left thumb. The table shows the starting values used by this tool. They were chosen so that the file stays inside the ranges quoted in recent bulletins, even where those sources differ slightly.
| Document | File size | Dimensions | What it should show |
|---|---|---|---|
| Passport Photo | 10 to 200 KB | 350 Γ 450 px | A recent colour passport-size photo |
| Postcard Photo | 10 to 200 KB | 400 Γ 600 px | A 4 Γ 6 inch style photo, a little more of the shoulders |
| Signature | 10 to 30 KB | 300 Γ 120 px | Your normal signature in black ink on white paper |
| Left Thumb | 10 to 50 KB | 300 Γ 300 px | A single clear ink print of the left thumb |
The NTA publishes a fresh information bulletin each year and sometimes changes sizes or adds a rule. Always compare these numbers with your own bulletin. If anything differs, type the new values into the Customise section and the live check will follow them.
Which candidates can use this tool
The tool suits every candidate who is filling the NEET UG form, whether you are applying for the first time or taking a drop year. It also works for people helping a family member apply from a phone, since the whole process runs in the browser and needs no software.
Because the controls are built around numbers, you can reuse the page for other NTA forms that ask for a photograph, signature or thumb impression. Just change the sizes to match that bulletin.
Preparing all four NEET UG files
- Passport photo. Select Passport Photo, upload a clear portrait and centre your face in the crop frame.
- Postcard photo. Use the same picture or a new one. The Postcard tab uses a taller 2:3 shape, so you may want to crop it a little wider.
- Signature. Sign on plain white paper in black ink, photograph the page from above and crop close to the ink.
- Left thumb. Press your left thumb on an ink pad, roll it lightly on white paper and photograph the print in daylight.
- Collect them. Download each file, then use the ZIP button to keep the full set together.
Getting both NEET UG photographs right
Choose soft daylight, ideally facing a window, so your face is evenly lit and there are no harsh shadows. Stand in front of a plain white or very light wall and look straight at the lens with a relaxed expression.
- Keep it recent. NTA usually asks for a picture taken within a few months of applying.
- Show your full face. Avoid caps, dark glasses and hair across the eyes.
- Check the name and date rule. Some bulletins ask for your name and the date the photo was taken to appear on it. If yours does, add it with the Name & Date tool before resizing.
- Plain background. The background remover can turn a cluttered wall into clean white.
Signature and left thumb impression
For the signature, use a black pen on unlined white paper and sign as you normally do. A signature that looks different from the one on your school records can raise questions later, so keep it consistent. Photograph the sheet from straight above and crop tightly.
For the thumb impression, press your left thumb on the ink pad and roll it gently across white paper in a single smooth motion. A dark, complete print is better than a large one. If the print looks faint after upload, raise the ink strength slider rather than pressing harder next time, because pressure can smudge the ridges. Make sure you use the thumb the bulletin names, which is normally the left.
Details that save a second attempt
- Keep both photographs identical in look, since they are checked against each other and your admit card.
- Do not edit your face with filters or beauty apps. They change how you look and can trigger rejection.
- Prepare every file before you open the form, because sessions may time out while you search for a picture.
- Save the finished files in one folder, as you may need them again for counselling and admission.
If the portal still complains about a file, change the target KB by a few points and download again.
Common reasons NEET UG uploads fail
- The file is outside the allowed KB range.
- The image was stretched to fit instead of being cropped.
- The photograph is blurred, too dark, or taken with a coloured or patterned background.
- The thumb print is smudged, too faint or from the wrong hand.
- The signature was typed, written in capitals when this is not allowed, or placed on lined paper.
- The file is not saved as a JPEG.
Staying private while you prepare files
Everything is processed inside your browser, so your photographs, signature and fingerprint are never uploaded to our servers. When a file is ready, download it, collect the set into a ZIP, or use Share to send the image and a link to this page. Delete any shared copies from chat apps afterwards, because these are sensitive personal documents.
