OPSC photograph, signature and thumb at a glance
The Odisha Public Service Commission asks for three images in its online application: a recent photograph, your signature and an impression of your left thumb. The table shows the values this tool starts with, based on figures quoted for recent advertisements. The thumb impression is expected in a wide frame of about 3.5 by 1.5 centimetres, so its pixel shape is a wide rectangle.
| Document | File size | Dimensions | What it should show |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 25 to 100 KB | 350 × 450 px | A recent colour passport-size photo |
| Signature | 10 to 50 KB | 350 × 150 px | Your normal signature in dark ink on white paper |
| Left Thumb | 10 to 50 KB | 350 × 150 px | A clear ink print of the left thumb on white paper |
Each OPSC advertisement lists its own instructions, so check the one for your post. If the numbers differ, use the Customise section to enter them. The live check follows whatever values you set.
Which OPSC candidates can use this tool
The tool serves anyone applying through the commission’s portal, including the Odisha Civil Services examination, medical and engineering posts, lecturer and teacher recruitments and the many departmental vacancies advertised each year. It also helps if your profile needs a refresh before a new application opens.
Since the page works from numbers rather than exam names, you can reuse it for any advertisement by adjusting the pixel size and the KB range.
Preparing all three OPSC files
- Photograph. Select Photo, upload a clear portrait and centre your face in the crop frame.
- Signature. Sign on plain white paper in dark ink, photograph it from straight above and crop close to the ink.
- Left thumb. Press your left thumb on an ink pad, roll it gently on white paper and photograph the print.
- Check the chips. Make sure the size and dimensions are green for each file before you download.
- Collect them. Use the ZIP button to keep the three files in one download.
Getting the OPSC photograph right
Choose soft daylight, ideally facing a window, and stand in front of a plain, light wall. Look straight at the lens with a calm expression.
- Keep it recent. It should look like you at the time of the exam.
- Show your full face. Avoid dark glasses, caps and hair over the eyes.
- Avoid heavy filters. Natural pictures pass verification more easily.
- Make the background plain. The background remover turns a cluttered wall into clean white.
Signature and left thumb impression
For the signature, use a dark pen on unlined white paper and sign as you normally do. Crop tightly so the ink fills most of the frame.
For the thumb impression, press your left thumb on the ink pad and roll it gently across white paper in one smooth motion. A single dark, complete print is best. If it looks faint, raise the ink strength slider rather than pressing harder, since pressure smudges the ridges. Place the print in the middle of the wide frame when you crop.
Details that save a second attempt
- Prepare all three files before opening the form, so the session does not time out.
- Keep the same photograph for later stages such as the admit card and certificate verification.
- If the portal rejects a file, adjust the target KB by a few points and download again.
- Save the files in a folder named after the advertisement for easy reuse.
Common reasons OPSC uploads fail
- The file is outside the allowed KB range.
- The image was stretched to fit instead of being cropped.
- The photograph is blurred, dark or taken against a busy background.
- The thumb print is smudged, faint, or from the wrong hand.
- The signature is on lined paper or is typed.
- The file is not saved as a JPEG.
Staying private while you prepare files
Everything is processed inside your browser, so your photograph, signature and fingerprint are never uploaded to our servers. When a file is ready, download it, collect the set into a ZIP, or use Share to send the image with a link to this page. Delete shared copies from chats afterwards, because these are personal documents.
