How it works

Prepare your RRB files in three steps

01

Choose Photo or Signature

Pick the tab for the file you need. The dimensions and the KB range switch to the RRB values for you.

02

Upload and crop

Add your picture and move the crop frame, which is locked to the right shape so nothing is stretched.

03

Check, download or share

Green ticks confirm size and dimensions. Download each file, share it, or collect both into one ZIP.

Why this tool

Everything an RRB application needs

πŸš†

Made for railway forms

Photo and signature sizes for the file ranges commonly asked in RRB recruitment notices.

βœ…

Live compliance check

Green and red chips show at once whether the size and dimensions are right.

✍️

Ink clean-up

Whiten the paper and darken the ink on a signature photographed with a phone.

πŸ“¦

Requirements

RRB photo and signature requirements at a glance

Railway Recruitment Boards publish a separate notice for every recruitment, and each one explains how to upload your photograph and signature. Many notices ask for JPEG files within a range that has both a minimum and a maximum size. The table shows the values commonly quoted for these uploads, and they are the starting values in this tool.

DocumentFile sizeDimensionsWhat it should show
Photograph30 to 70 KB413 Γ— 531 px (3.5 Γ— 4.5 cm)Recent colour photo, face clear, light background
Signature30 to 70 KB472 Γ— 236 px (4 Γ— 2 cm)Your signature in dark ink on white paper

Because rules differ from one notice to the next, please read the instructions of your own recruitment and use the Customise section to enter the exact numbers.

Exams

Which RRB exams this tool is for

The tool follows numbers rather than exam names, so it works for any railway recruitment that asks for these two images. That includes NTPC (graduate and under-graduate posts), Group D (Level 1), Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician, Junior Engineer and related posts, Section Controller, paramedical categories and ministerial and isolated categories.

Each regional board may add its own details, so always check the notice published for your region and the CEN number you are applying under.

Step by step

How to prepare your RRB photo and signature

  1. Select Photo. Upload a clear recent portrait and centre your face in the crop frame.
  2. Check the checks. The size and dimensions chips should both be green.
  3. Download, then choose Signature. Photograph your signature on white paper from above and crop close to the ink.
  4. Save the pair. Use the ZIP button to keep both files together for the form.
Photograph tips

Taking a railway recruitment photograph that works

Face a window for soft, even light and stand in front of a plain light wall. Look straight at the lens with a natural expression and keep your whole face visible.

  • Use a recent picture. It should look like you today.
  • Keep the background clean. Use our background remover if your wall is messy.
  • Avoid shadows and glare across the face, especially from spectacles.
  • Do not use filters. Natural, unedited pictures are safest.
Signature tips

Making a signature that stays readable

Use a dark pen on unlined white paper, then photograph the page from straight above in daylight. Crop tightly around the ink, and keep ink clean-up on so that the paper turns white and the strokes turn dark.

When the minimum file size is 30 KB, a very simple signature can come out smaller than that after compression. The tool detects this and pads the file slightly above the minimum, so the upload does not fail for being too small.

Rejections

Common reasons uploads fail

  • The file is smaller than the minimum or larger than the maximum size.
  • The photograph was stretched instead of cropped.
  • The picture is blurred, dark or taken in front of a busy background.
  • The signature is faint, tiny or hidden in a shadow.
  • The file is not a JPEG.

The live checks catch these before you ever reach the upload page.

Before you apply

Preparing for a smooth railway application

Railway forms often run over several steps, so keep your documents in one place before you start: identity proof, educational certificates, category certificate if needed, and your photograph and signature files. Note the CEN number and the last date, and avoid waiting until the final days, because portals slow down when many candidates apply together.

Privacy and sharing

Staying private while you prepare files

Your photograph and signature are processed inside your browser, so they are never uploaded to our servers. You can download each file, gather both into a ZIP, or use Share to send the image with a link to this page. Delete shared copies from chats when you are done.
