UGC NET photograph and signature at a glance
UGC NET is conducted by the National Testing Agency for eligibility for Assistant Professor and for Junior Research Fellowship. The online form collects a recent photograph and your signature. Like other NTA exams, the size is given as a KB range and the pixel size is flexible. The table shows the values this tool starts with, which follow the range commonly quoted for NTA forms.
| Document | File size | Dimensions | What it should show |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | 10 to 200 KB | 350 × 450 px | A recent colour passport-size photo |
| Signature | 4 to 30 KB | 300 × 120 px | Your own signature in dark ink on white paper |
These figures come from NTA-style notices and third-party guides, and we could not confirm them on the official bulletin for your cycle. Please read the current information bulletin. If the numbers differ, edit them in Customise and the live check will follow.
Which candidates this helps
The same two uploads apply whether you aim for JRF with Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor only, or PhD admission. They are shared across subjects, so a single photograph and signature work for any subject you choose.
Because UGC NET runs twice a year, you can reuse your finished files in the next cycle, as long as the picture still looks like you.
Compressing your files from start to finish
- Photo first. Upload a clear portrait and centre your face in the crop frame.
- Check the chips. Wait for size and dimensions to go green, then download.
- Signature. Switch tabs, upload a photo of your signature on white paper and crop tightly.
- Tight limit? If the signature is very small in KB, leave Within range selected and let the tool find the sharpest result.
- Save both. The ZIP button keeps them together.
Getting the UGC NET photograph right
NTA forms usually ask for a recent colour passport-size picture on a white or very light background with the face clearly visible, including the ears. Use soft daylight facing a window and keep a relaxed, straight look.
- No masks, caps or dark glasses.
- Keep it recent. It is compared with you at the exam centre.
- Avoid filters. Natural pictures pass checks more easily.
- Plain background. Use the background remover if the wall is busy.
Making a clean signature image
Sign with a black or dark blue pen on plain white paper, in the same style as on your other records. Photograph the page from straight above in daylight and crop close to the ink. The signature limit is small, so the ink clean-up is helpful: it whitens the paper, which makes the file lighter and the ink crisper.
Details that save a second attempt
- Fill in your name and details exactly as on your certificates, because the photograph is matched to them.
- Prepare both files before you open the form so the session does not time out.
- NTA allows a correction window for some fields, but not always for images, so get them right the first time.
- Keep a spare copy of the photograph for the admit card and later document checks.
Common reasons UGC NET uploads fail
- The file is outside the KB range.
- The picture was stretched rather than cropped to shape.
- The photograph is blurred, dark or taken against a patterned wall.
- The signature is faint, on lined paper or not your own.
- The file is not a real JPEG.
Staying private while you prepare files
Everything is processed on your device, so your photograph and signature are never sent to our servers. When a file is ready you can download it, save both in a ZIP, or use Share to pass the image and a link to this page to another phone. Delete shared copies from chats afterwards.
